Do all trees in Chadstone need a permit for removal?
No — Monash's VPO threshold is stricter than the state Clause 52.37. VPO applies only to trees that are BOTH higher than 10 metres AND have a trunk circumference greater than 50cm (16cm diameter) at 120cm above ground. Under both criteria you need a permit. Under Clause 52.37, the state-wide rule applies to canopy trees within 6m of front boundary or 4.5m of rear. Two thresholds — the stricter one applies where both cover your tree.
